COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course is the third in a series of courses designed for students to develop skills in working with typography.

Students produce projects and exercises which promote understanding and use of typography as a visual element. Recognition of the visual/verbal impact of typographic choices, and development of technical skills to produce professional typography for various contexts is stressed.

The focus of the course is typography for print although screen typography is briefly reviewed. We use the Adobe software Illustrator and InDesign. Manual skills in rendering letterforms are briefly reviewed.

Emphasis is upon mastering conceptual and technical skills, understanding concepts and terms, technical experimentation, design sensibility and cognitive depth of work.
